Go away, leave us alone

Bloody hell, I just got sliced open in a dream.

I was lying on my stomach on my bed, and when I woke up and lifted my head from the pillow, my eyes were green ringed with black. I felt super weird, and I was told to say 'I am _______' Which I didn't, because I promptly lost consciousness/fell asleep again.

Then I woke up a second time, and I lifted my head from the pillow. I felt normal, my eyes were brown, and the people that were there before were gone. I remembered what they told me to say though, and I thought it was really weird, so I said it out loud, experimentally. Then. I felt someone move on the bed behind me. I was still on my stomach so I couldn't see, but I had thought that I was alone.

I felt a sliding sensation along my back, like I was getting unzipped, and I was thinking, 'What's that? It's wei- OH FUCK.' And I just lay there freaking out while I got sliced all along my torso at waist level, then two flaps were cut out at either side and my kidneys removed. (Though that is probably not where kidneys are in real life.) Note that it didn't actually hurt, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. But it is pretty damn scary to lie there with the knowledge that someone is cutting you open, and I woke with a start.

(I was lying on my stomach, but I was about halfway down the bed with my legs sticking over the end because I had been waiting for my computer to shut down and had fallen asleep. Then I went to the bathroom to wash my face, and while I was bending over the sink I was like MY SIDES FEEL FUNNY. Not painful, but they were kind of tingly.)

There was another segment to the dream before that, but I can't remember.

Yesterday night/today morning's dream involved me leaving my home (a tent) because while my mother was gone, some people showed up and I started running across a field at night and started a fire to throw them off which spread to my home and I was like THE HORSES ): but bravely did not turn back. Then I hid in trees and when they had passed me I ran back to my home but there were tons of them lined up at picnic tables and I thought ohshit and casually turned and walked in the other direction and woke up. (The endless stamina was really nice. Felt like I could run forever, which made me a bit smug about them never being able to catch me.)

Your mind is the scene of the crime-

I had a dream, which I am going to attempt to describe here. It is not particularly interesting nor funny nor noteworthy in any way, but I try to record the dreams I do remember, so. There will be footnotes and a diagram because what it is is confusing and illogical.

Can’t remember the bit of the dream before this, but some guys were raising and lowering plastic containers on poles. Don’t remember the purpose,(1) but basically one morning one of the guys lowers one of the containers, and out falls a dead body. (This is occurring on cement steps.) Cue horror and outrage, the guy says something about students walking past and breathing in the nitrogen(2) (from the dead body in the container suspended above them). And there are a few people gathered around and trying not to breathe in so I hold my breath too, and walk out to the edge (I am at the top level of the steps) that overlooks the sea and take breaths of fresh air that I am relieved does not smell like corpse.

I turn to two people behind me who are watching the men with the body with their hands over their noses and mouths and tell them the air seems to be alright where I am standing. Then as I turn to walk back in they come towards me and one of them says to her friend, ‘Hey you were right, this one is rosier than the other guy.’(3) I walk back in with her and on the way I’m like, ‘Um, I’m a girl.’ And she says, ‘Yeah I know!’ We walk into this sort of auditorium and take our seats, and I keep breathing with my face buried into my jacket. I decide to take a whiff of the air without it and it smells funny so I duck back down. And someone says, ‘Oh it is pretty bad, but you either can smell it or you can’t.’

The auditorium is pretty crowded and I suddenly think wait…… where’s the body? Because there are people sitting on the middle block where the body was and I crane my neck to see if it’s still there. And someone mentions that it is one of the guys’ birthday and the whole auditorium sings him a birthday song that starts normal and turns into the Crescent version. I am really excited and gleeful and am clapping and drumrolling with my feet with extreme enthusiasm. The girl on my other side moves one seat away. I think about how much I missed doing that.

A dance starts up on stage to Tick Tock by Gwen Stefani.(4) Natalie, Yuhua, Jasmine, Debbie and Chantal are dancing. In shimmery green-blue dresses. And then I wake up.

(1) My dreams are full of things that make perfect sense in dream-world, and only when I wake up do I realise that I have completely warped the laws of logic and common sense.
(2) Dead bodies do not emit nitrogen, as far as I know. Or at least that is not what makes the smell. But my subconscious decided that nitrogen it must be.
(3) Yeah, I don't know either.
(4) It's actually called What You Waiting For? but that doesn't matter because my brain just made up a song and told me it was Gwen Stefani.

Þú ert sólin

I WENT TO SEE THE CIRCUS, IT WAS AWESOME.

(Okay that's a bit misleading- it was more of a musical/circus thing. Voyage de la Vie at Resorts World Sentosa. It was brilliant.)

The History Boys

Yes.

It's got lots of bits of poetry/music/films thrown in, none of which I understand, and I have to keep replaying scenes because I can't figure out their accents, but it is brilliant. Watching it for the second time now. (And I do mean after I finished it the first time, I pressed play again.)

It's got some really witty dialogue and the boys are so full of shit and they're having fun. They wear blazers and ties and coats! Scripps and Irwin have coats with high collars! Their accents! ('Fuck' comes out like 'fook', for some of them.) Scripps's accent is the most difficult to decipher, but I love his voice. And I keep going back to watch the bit where Posner re-enacts the scene from Brief Encounter. Also where they're sitting a circle during their shared lesson and arguing about history.

The characters are wonderful, especially the teachers. And I am falling asleep. So in summary:

IRWIN OH MY HEART.

This is a Gnarls Barkley appreciation post

The crowd. ♥ Festivals seem like such fun.

I watched this about ten times last night. And a few more this morning. The dancers are beautiful, love the way they move and the use of effects. Also, suspenders!!

You are only coming through in waves,

HOME NOW SO GLAD I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE AGAIN.

Today was such a crap day. Nothing much really, but it's the little things you know?

Just a bad people interaction day. And everything I say/do makes me cringe.

Then I went to Pam's house, and I love that we can not talk for months and still not be awkward.

Listening to KEXP podcasts, which is doing quite a bit to cheer me up. KEXP ♥

OH CLOUD CULT WHY ARE YOU SO AWESOME AND WHY DOES EVERYONE NOT SEEM TO PAY ATTENTION TO YOU.

I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOW.

P.S.- Am (re)reading the Dresden Files, and am again torn between annoyance for and liking it. Thoughts, anyone?

Ich bin nich' ich

I'm in the process of organising my music library and am listening to Tokio Hotel songs and I realise I kind of really like them. Their first album, not the one playing on MTV now. He sounded much better as a kid, and in German.

AM GOING TO CORRUPT NANDHINI HAHA.

Parachutes

Last night, I dreamt that Stuart and Sarah from Belle & Sebastian were going to play for me and my sister in my bedroom. (Though it wasn't my actual bedroom in real life.)

But then they didn't actually get round to it, because we went to a supermarket and Stuart filled a trolley with parachutes and construction paper. When I asked him what it was for, he said something about Facebook and fans and prizes.

There was more, and Stevie was involved, but I can't remember. ):

Fields of Gold

Pictures! Jessica's (or Yuhua's, I'm not quite sure), because mine are terrible and need copious amounts of editing which I'm too lazy to do/not sure I can fix.

Pretty lights!

Singapore flag. (:

Yuhua's signed setlist!!

My birthday dress from Natalie and Yuhua and Jasmine!

And the wanting comes in waves,

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is R-21. :/

Jasmine just messaged me about getting freaked out about the Slee (?) thing in The Graveyard Book. (It's 1.30am and she's the only one awake.) And she thinks I'm weird because I like Silas. Silas is awesome! Being not alive and not dead and powerful with endless knowledge he refuses to divulge. (...If I were Bod I would have a completely inappropriate crush on my guardian. But that would be too weird, so maybe not.)

Lastly- Spencer Reid('s cheekbones)!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay I'm done.

SOMETHING IS WRONG

I WANT CLOTHES WHO WANTS TO GO SHOPPING WITH ME.

Today, I had lunch with Vicky at Everything with Fries ($9). Then we went shopping! Which was surprisingly fun. And I wanted a skirt but it was thirty dollars. (Can some seasoned shopper tell me if thirty dollars is worth it for a skirt? Um, it made my legs look nice.)

Then I bought 3.5m of ribbon ($10). (I can't believe I spent ten dollars on ribbon.) And tortilla chips and salsa ($8.50). (Fun fact: 90% of my expenditure = food. Like the time I spent $30 at the supermarket.)

IN SHORT, I HAVE NO MONEYS.

Dream About Zombies

I am playing football with a bunch of people (no idea who, I think made-up dream people) and I am running towards the goal and people are running all around me and there is a line of four guys in front of me, arms around each other like when someone gets a penalty kick. The guy furthest from me sees me coming and leans across to tell the guy at the other end to be careful (not to crush me or something). I get pissed and start shouting at him for being sexist and thinking they need to go easy on me. And then I run out of insults to yell and call him a misogynist (which is… not a very accurate term).

Skip to where I wake up in my room at night, in the dark. I think, ‘Where did everyone go?’ and presume that they are all continuing the game in another room. So I roam through the house trying to find them. All the rooms are dark, and I think they are hiding and I hate things jumping at me out of the dark so I wander randomly into rooms and yell ‘Boo!’ so that they’ll scream first and I’ll find them. Only no one screams and I get a little worried because I can’t find anyone. (To clarify, it was sort of like my house, and some of the rooms looked the same, but I think the dream house was bigger.) Then I go upstairs and find a guy in the spare room, and a girl in the master bedroom, but they don’t know where the others are. I find my sister in a rolled-up mattress outside my room, but that’s it.

I climb out of my window to the building behind my house, which is also dark except for the second floor where there is a brightly lit school hall with rows of people sitting inside. I approach the girl sitting at a desk outside the hall, and she checks her list and tells me that my friends were there, but they have been released already. So I just wander around the place for a bit, then I don’t remember much except a zombie-woman and me freaking out and realising that my friends may be dead and possibly more zombies and more freaking out.

Then there is a flashback-like thing where I cut into another reality and I am in my room with the lights on and people around and a girl is screaming ‘South! South! Let me finish it!’ or something to that effect. I am playing a board game, and she rushes across the room to complete her turn and suddenly everything is back to normal.

The girl says something about planting seeds and crops dying and zombies outside the city (by finishing the game she somehow altered the timeline) and I go downstairs to find my mum and dad and maid and hand them kitchen knives/sharp tools and tell them to just take it and be careful even though they think I’m crazy because the zombies haven’t arrived and they think everything is fine. I know the zombies are coming but not how soon so I go out and buy knives.

Cut to night time and I’m out on the street and there are zombies slinking around and someone gets injured so we bring her into a house and I tell someone to stay with her. Then there is a commotion outside (can’t remember what) and I run out and so does everyone else and when it’s over I’m like ‘Why are you outside you’re supposed to be inside!!!!!’ and we all run back in and two people are dead in the room and I am pissed.

Then we spot a zombie outside and go after it and there turns out to be a lot of zombies. They’re on a field trip or something, and they have their handlers with them (my brain is weird like that). So I start stabbing zombies and slitting throats and they all die and we are relieved! And then I wake up.

My life right now

Google/Wiki/Tumblr+ :
1. Radiohead
2. Merlin
3. Callum Keith Rennie

Recommend me movies, someone? I've been wanting to watch movies lately, quiet atmospheric films about small towns/farms/fields. Heh.

Also, I am reading up on just about shows CKR has been in. Made easy by the CKR files, and omg, that is a lot of dedication. My eyes crossed just reading the wiki pages, but if I'm not wrong, that has everything he's ever been in. Even if just for eight seconds.

Why am I doing this to myself? I should just watch Due South and wait for it to pass.

Fly on, little wing

Time for some music that is of no interest to anyone reading this!

I was going to make a commentary for each song, but I started with Eric Johnson and there are no words for him, really.

Baby, set my soul on fire

So last night, I dreamt that Matt Smith came to my school. (I don't even know what school.)

(I was being all he's so cute awwwww and trying to discretely take a picture of him with my phone, and everyone else was like uh what.)

The night before, I dreamt that Eunice bought me a pink dress and a pink bag and made me wear the dress.

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Sorry, but

DYING DYING JASMINE I AM DYING LOOK AT THEM.

So, uh

Please let this be one of those shows where the two main characters don't end up together and everyone goes WTF just happened? Beckett and Castle are cute, but them being romantically involved kind of freaks me out. And I was more convinced by one episode of Beckett/Demming than two seasons of Beckett/Castle.

RYAN AND ESPOSITO ARE SO SO ADORABLE.

And they have ridiculous eyes. Beckett, Castle and Alexis have green eyes. Ryan's eyes are blue. Demming's are...blue? Or something. I spend a lot of time staring at peoples' eyes on this show.

In summary: DEMMING AND BECKETT, PLEASE.

Also, Tumblr is eating the sad remnants of what I called a life.

Note to self:

Do not go ice skating (or any kind of skating, really) with ankle socks.

I have three wounds on my legs, thanks to that. Minor-friction-burn kind of wounds. (Also have bruises on both knees, but that's not because of ankle socks.) One's really tiny and already healing, but the others are such a pain in the ass. Don't want to put plasters, because the first day I did I think it got stuck and kind of peeled a bit off, so I freaked out when I took off the plaster and it was red underneath.

Point is, now they're kind of itchy (I like to think they're healing) and possibly infected and definitely going to scar and I can't wear jeans or cross my legs/lie down properly and I am TRÈS ANNOYED.

I hope I didn't gross anyone out.

NANDHINI IS AWESOME

I have new music!!

Remixes of Thom Yorke songs, Massive Attack, Pulp, and French Navy by Camera Obscura. You would not believe how widely I am grinning right now.

Plus, am going to see Vicky tomorrow!!

Monday, June 07, 2010

HELP,

KIND OF REALLY HOOKED ON CASTLE. FINISHED SEASON ONE IN TWO DAYS (only ten episodes, but still), IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR THE REST TO DOWNLOAD NOW SO I CAN CONTINUE. KATE BECKETT/STANA KATIC SO PRETTY. ALEXIS SO AWESOME. RICHARD CASTLE/NATHAN FILLION KIND OF OLD BUT CHARMING AND MAKES ME LAUGH.

Okay that said- Jasmine, watch it!

ETA: RYAN AND ESPOSITO SO ADORABLE.

Cut out all the ropes and let me fall,

Some things for anyone who might be seeing this:

Bon Iver playing
Skinny Love for a Take Away Show. It's so gorgeous and makes me happy in ways I can't describe. (You have to actually watch it, because half of why it's so good is because you can see how happy everyone is.)

Paradise Circus (Breakage's Tight Rope Remix)- Massive Attack
. I heard it while playing Tap Tap this afternoon, and it is damn good. And if you like your music a little less electronic, there is always the original.

Jónsi and Alex (I'm referring to them-as-people, not them-as-artists) strike me as adorable and they make me happy, but in a wistful why-can't-my-life-be-like-theirs sort of way. I know it's odd, but that's the closest I can get to describing it.

The Duke Tremontaine

Spoilers for The Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner:

RICHARD'S NOT DEAD! \o/ He is almost blind though, and far away from Alec, but I don't really care because HE'S NOT DEAD! There has only been a bit of Richard so far, but I think there will soon be more RichardandAlec fuckedupness to come. (And then I think Richard's going to die (in a blaze of glory).)

Katherine Talbert is awesome! Society is like, GIRLS SHOULD LOOK PRETTY AND GO TO PARTIES AND FLIRT AND TRY TO GET MARRIED ASAP. And Katherine is all NO I WILL NOT DRESS PRETTY AND GO TO PARTIES, I WILL WEAR PANTS AND PRACTICE SWORDSPLAY. She's so young and idealistic!

Michael Godwin! I didn't like him much in the last book because he was kind of whiny and useless and I was convinced he was going to kill Richard, but he's awesome here. There was a girl who got raped by her fiance and her parents knew and they just said STOP SULKING IT'S PERFECTLY TRIVIAL DON'T YOU DARE CALL OFF THE WEDDING. Michael Godwin would never let that happen to his daughter. Also, that girl was his daughter's friend and the wedding was called off and the girl disgraced, but Michael Godwin always made a point of dancing with her at parties. ♥

And okay this is a fantasy book, but I'm pretty sure the treatment of women described in it is not fictional. Doesn't it make you wish you could go back in time and kill people with forks? (You mightn't even have to go back in time- I'm sure girls are still treated like that somewhere today.)

ETA: AM KIND OF DISAPPOINTED ACTUALLY. There were no Richard-and-Alec-will-paint-this-town-red antics. It was all Alec, actually. So no dying in a blaze of glory. And it was much less dramatic than the ending of the previous book. Not that I'm complaining, everyone got to be happy!

Richaaaaaaard

Spoilers for Privilege of the Sword, by Ellen Kushner:

Alec! Alec! Alec! Brilliant and wonderful and snarky and cruel and if I met him in real life I'd be terrified of him but I do love him so. Breaking all sorts of social conventions just for the fun of it. ♥

WHERE IS RICHARD THOUGH, BECAUSE I AM ON PAGE 80 AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RICHARD SO FAR. I have this dreadful creeping feeling that Richard may be dead, and if he is I shall cry. I can't bear the thought of NO MORE RICHARD + ALEX, EVER.

Also, the timelines confuse me, because Diane was Alec's grandmother? I didn't think she was that old. And the Council has passed at least two terms already I think, verryyyyyy confusing. Head for numbers, I possess not.

OH RICHARD, WHERE ART THOU.

I'm a deep sea diver

Things that made me happy today:

Mistaken for Strangers- The National

Someone said in the comments 'This is a video of The National just being cool'. Yes!

It made me insanely happy this morning, you have no idea how hard I was grinning. See 0:45 when the chorus starts, I love that shot of Matt Berninger and the ceiling. The shadow! The tilt of his head! The angle of the camera! ♥ I would screenshot that if the video quality was better.

Grizzly Bear walking down the streets of Paris, singing Knife.

Ed!!!!!!!!!1 Hahaha he's so embarrassed, he keeps covering his head with the jacket. I love his voice and this song.

Zach Condon walks down the streets of Paris (possibly drunk), singing Knife.

Look they're having so much fun! They're totally fudging the lyrics! And Zach Condon is kind of really adorable. And has a great voice. I wish I could walk down the street and see something like this.

Nantes- Beirut

If people did things like this more often, the world would be a happier place.

A conversation I had with my Dad

Dad: I want you to listen to a song.
Me: I'm going out.
Dad: Where are you going? I'll drive you.

In the car, Dad puts on 'Gotten' by Slash.
*silence*
Dad: So, how is it?
Me: Um, okay? It's nice, but not fantastic.
The voice is really familiar though.
Dad: Yeah... Who is it?
Me: Sounds like... Adam Levine from Maroon 5.
Dad: Yeah!
Me: (My dad knows who Maroon 5 is???)

I think my dad's pretty cool sometimes. (: And I love the fact the he volunteered to drive me to the station just so I could listen to a song.

Monday, May 03, 2010

Take a look at me now,

So, there was a concert.
Pretty lights!

Hello, Kelly Jones.
Very Matt Bellamy, no?

Unfortunately, I have no good pictures of the shirtless drummer. He was grinning and looked like he was having fun. ♥

Concert was good, though the bass was a bit too loud and thumpy I think? The audience was pretty tame, no shoving to get to the front or anything. Though I heard one lady say the crowd in front was pretty wild.

Someone threw a slipper at Kelly Jones! It was pretty bad but also quite amusing. The band left the stage and there was a lot of name calling but when they came back on the energy level of the crowd suddenly shot up hahaha. Like seriously, everyone started dancing/jumping/singing and it got a lot more fun.

Pity I didn't know many of their songs, but they played Maybe Tomorrow, Innocent, Mr. Writer and Dakota. I was disappointed that Maybe Tomorrow wasn't acoustic, and that they didn't play I'm Alright. But it was awesome nonetheless!

At the end of the concert we were standing around talking, then suddenly this guy walked up to us and picked something up from the grass near our feet. YEAH THERE WAS A PICK ON THE GROUND AND WE DID NOT SEE IT. Oh, the tragedy.

I've uploaded the videos here, sound isn't the best because of the bass (WATCH ME ALLITERATE), but I like the Dakota one because you can see/hear the crowd singing and having fun. (:

I ATE PINEAPPLE AND NOW MY TONGUE FEELS SO, SO STRANGE.
